SS Debrief Blog #1: Mission, Vision, & Innovation
In your work teams…
- Consider the tenets listed below as you form your own vision of what you dream your business will become. Consider how you will go about achieving this vision, and strive to make a daily effort to live the vision – live the dream. Choose which three are the most important to your group:
- Turning over a large profit
- Maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction
- Treating your employees fairly and equally
- Being eco-friendly
- Supporting your local community, including NNMS and Chicago
- Offering a healthy and nutritious menu
- Looking out for the greater good of humanity: taking care of others, building community, and participating in meaningful work
2. Create a tenet that is specific to your work team. Examples:
- Panini Day: Building a substantial beefy panini, without over-saucing or over-stuffing the sandwich
- Pizza Day: Providing more appealing pizza packaging (less signs of grease)
- PR/Marketing: Maintaining frequent communication with the public
3. Describe specifically how you will achieve these tenets – how you will put these ideas into action. Examples:
- Being eco-friendly: We will minimize paper/lunch bag waste by paying close attention to how we record orders on the lunch bags
- Maintaining frequent communication with the public: We will post on our SS website every Thursday afternoon
4. Describe one business you find to be successful and explain why – perhaps provide a link to the business website!
